Christmas Festivities Are Starting Very Early This Year… And I Am Here For It!

I mean, what else do we have to look forward too?

This year has been a train wreck, start to finish. Coronavirus may be the leading factor but the ceaseless anguish of this year has had many other instigators.

From the devastation of the Australian bushfires to the distressing death of George Floyd, this year has put us through hell.

People deemed 2020 cursed as early as Kobe and Gianna Bryant’s tragic death in late January; and they weren’t wrong.

The relentless suffering has in no way ended. In fact Boris has just hurried us all back in to full lockdown just over a month before Christmas. Just when we thought we could be moving forward, we are now going back on ourselves…

Remember back in March when we thought this would only last three weeks? Hilarious.

All over social media people have been sharing their Christmas cheer as early as November 1st. As soon as Halloween was done with, people latched on to the only other thing they could look forward to this year.

Every other celebration or treat we had planned for ourselves has been ripped from our grasp. Since Coronavirus has unapologetically taken over all of our lives, birthdays, holidays, religious festivities and clubs have been a distant memory.

All celebrations have been extremely limited and people are excited for the national glee that Christmas spreads. Although we have been thrown back in to ‘lockdown 2.0’, there is hope that it will come to an end on December 2nd.

Despite returning to the tiered approach, businesses will be back open and Christmas spirit will be felt within the community. Vibrant decorations will be displayed and dazzling Christmas trees will help ignite the warmth back in our hearts.

Christmas movies will make us feel like children again, and shopping for loved ones will give us that little buzz of excitement.

And don’t even get me started on the food!

Like some of us may have already cheekily done, celebrities are joining in with the celebrations and putting their decorations up early.

American fashion designer Tan France shared a post on instagram with his 3.9 million followers of his graceful Christmas tree on the 1st November. In the caption he admitted to a 10 year tradition of putting his decorations up early, and rightfully told haters to “back off!”.

English actress Michelle Keegan also shared her impressive decorations on instagram, showing off her giant nutcracker statues and gorgeously decorated pine arch. In the caption she justified her early revelry: “it’s 2020, and the rules have gone out the window!”.

Whilst some are already snuggling up with their mulled wine and apple pies, others are not too happy about it.

No matter how awful a year can be, the Grinch’s will never stop trying to trample all over our spirit.

Even Mariah Carey broke our hearts when she agreed that it was in fact too early to press play on her beloved Christmas classic: All I want For Christmas Is You.

She shut down one of her eager fans who tweeted his excitement at the beginning of a rise in searches for the hit.

Mike Nicolella captioned the tweet ‘it’s happening’ to which Mariah responded ‘not yet’.

Sorry Mariah, but we’re going to have to agree to disagree.
